History Of Handbags

Have you ever wondered about the starting point of handbags and purses..??

I've been reading several articles about handbags and purses which handbags have been important to fashion history since 14th century. It was started since people have had something precious to carry around with them.. But the things inside the handbags and purses have changed over time..

During 14th Century, egyptians carried pouches around their waist where the bags were attached to the girdles. However, the richer the person the more jewels and embroidery on their pouches.

Moreover, in the 16th Century, handbags and purses were made from everyday materials such as leather. The bags were made larger for the purpose of travels. In the next century during the 17th century looked varieties in terms of shapes and sizes. The shapes were more complex with unique stiched artwork in handbags.

In the 18th Century, women started carrying their handbags called reticules. Due to some reason, they did not carry their purses because wearing a purse would spoil their fashion.

Actually, the term 'handbag' was used in the early 1900s where generally referred as hand held luggage bags usually carried by men. At the same time, it was inspired by women to designed handbags with internal compartments and came with different design and colors.

Nowadays, there are too many handbags that are copied which are not original and those handbags came with low quality. There are many replicas flooding the market [petaling street, etc] where some of these replicas even carry the lable of the company they are imitating while others just have the signature "C","G","F",etc.

In the future, handbags would be one of the important accessories not only for women but for men as well.. Handbags in future would come in various shapes, colors, fabrics, funtions and etc..
